The Problem
In 2023, we launched the MVP of Capybara.AI. As the product matured and the design team continued to grow, the flaws in the current design system became more apparent. For instance, the readability of the current theme colors is not optimal. Additionally, the components in the product lack consistency.
Solution
Given the limited bandwidth of the engineering team, my goals for this round of the revamp are:
Improving product readability by adjusting the theme colors and button styles.
Streamlining component styles to ensure consistency.
My approaches to design include:
Conducting a design audit of the current product to organize components and identify usability issues.
Analyzing the visual design approaches of other applications.
Referencing mature design systems such as Material Design and Apple's Human Interface Guidelines.
Ultimately, I developed a new design system that achieves my goals with minimal development cost:
